Abstract: ABSTRACT A METHOD FOR REAL-TIME INVERTER FAULT DIAGNOSIS IN NINE-PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR DRIVE AND SYSTEM THEREOF A real-time voltage-based fault detection method and system for identifying open-circuit faults in the inverter of a nine-phase induction motor drive is disclosed. Motor phase voltages are continuously acquired, sampled at the PWM rate and processed to compute sliding RMS values with IIR smoothing. Adaptive thresholds are formed from on-line statistical parameters (mean and standard deviation) of the filtered RMS during healthy operation. A preliminary fault flag is raised when a phase RMS falls below its lower adaptive threshold; confirmation is obtained from a relative-phase RMS index that remains effective at low speeds. FIG. 1
