MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411089769 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Jodhpur on November 19, 2024, for A Method Of Fabricating An Anti-Fouling And Anti-Corrosion Coating On A Metallic Substrate.
Inventors include Dr. Ravi K R; and Aiswarya Sahu.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of fabricating an anti-fouling and anti-corrosion coating on the surface of a metallic substrate, without involving any further surface modification with low surface energy materials. In particular, the present invention provides a method to achieve scalable anti-fouling-corrosion coating via one-step High velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) spraying on metallic substrate, including applications for various metal bottom parts of ships and submarines such as hall, propeller, gear, etc. A fabrication technique exhibiting excellent engineered properties, such as, chemical corrosion resistance, biofouling resistance, water adherence resistance, icephobicity, 150OC stability, self-healing property and therefore, suitable for industrial scale-up has been developed.
