Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for kinetic characterization of shear-driven mixing and dissolution in a peristaltic flow system (100). The system comprises a programmable peristaltic pump, flexible tubing, pressure chambers, sensors, dosing pumps, and a dissolution chamber configured to simulate gastrointestinal peristalsis under controlled in vitro conditions. A solid sample, including a tablet or crystal (105), is subjected to rhythmic compression-relaxation cycles that generate controlled shear forces, mixing, and fluid transport, thereby influencing dissolution behavior. Operating parameters including pump speed, tube occlusion, fluid composition, pH, temperature, pressure, and dosing conditions are independently varied while dissolution kinetics and sample morphology are monitored. The system enables evaluation of the effects of hydrodynamic and physicochemical conditions on dissolution and generates data for predictive modeling. The invention provides a reproducible and physiologically relevant platform for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, biomaterial, food, and chemical dissolution studies.
