Abstract: The present invention relates to a method (100) of preparing a passivator composition for passivating stainless-steel articles. The method (100) includes pre-cleaning and degreasing a surface of the stainless-steel article, preparing a passivator composition for passivating the pre-cleaned and degreased surface of the stainless-steel article. Further, maintaining the passivator composition at a pH in a range of 6.5 to 8.5, heating the passivator composition to a temperature in a range of 50°C to 75°C, immersing the pre-cleaned stainless-steel article in the passivator composition for a duration of 45 minutes to 90 minutes, washing the stainless-steel article with low total dissolved solids water after immersion, and drying the stainless-steel article. The passivator composition includes sodium percarbonate, aluminum sulphate, sodium sulphate, ammonium acetate, sodium bicarbonate, potassium carbonate, isopropyl alcohol, glycerol, n-butanol, propylene glycol, and distilled water. The method (100) improves corrosion resistance without exposure to an acidic passivation environment.
