Abstract: The present invention relates to a cost-effective and facile metal-free method of synthesis of a coumarin derivative. Moreover, the method involves metal-free synthesis of a coumarin derivative that includes production of an aminocoumarin compound through a reaction between hydroxycoumarin and a multifunctional reagent, 2-chloro-4, 6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazine (CDMT) under milder reaction conditions that facilitates bypassing -OTf or -ONf functionalization and halogenation reaction. Further, the present invention provides a method of synthesis of a coumarin derivative that is free of pseudohalide derivatives, thus improving the yield of coumarin derivative.
