MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521012094 A) filed by Tata International Limited on February 12, 2025, for A Method To Obtain Activated Carbon, Black Carbon And Tanning Composition From Tea Waste.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for obtaining activated carbon, carbon black and tanning composition from tea waste. The method discloses recycling of tea waste i.e., left over tea leaves after extraction of tea from it. The tea waste is treated with mineral acid. The tea waste is filtered to obtain solid material and liquid material. The solid material is processed further to obtain activated carbon, carbon black and the liquid material is processed to obtain tanning composition.
