MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611059524 A) filed by Maharishi Markandeshwar Deemed To Be University on May 11, 2026, for A Method To Prepare Biopolymeric Multifunctional Film Integrated With Adhatoda Vasica Leaf-Derived Carbon Quantum Dots For Fruit Packaging.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a biodegradable fruit packaging biopolymeric multifunctional film integrated with carbon quantum dots derived from Adhatoda vasica leaves and a methodfor its preparation. The film is fabricated using hydroxypropyl methylcelluloseandcarrageenan as biopolymeric matrices, incorporating both native and zinc-dopedcarbonquantum dots synthesized via hydrothermal treatment. The developed filmexhibits enhanced antimicrobial, antioxidant, and barrier properties. The invention provides an eco-friendlypackaging material capable of extending the shelf-life and preserving the quality of fruits.
