MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511005122 A) filed by Lovely Professional University on January 22, 2025, for A Method Using Zeolite And Press-Mud To Increase Brix Ratio Of Sweet Sorghum In India.

Inventors include Mastu Patel; Rubina Gill; and Prasann Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for increasing the Brix ratio of sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) in the North Zone of India by using a combination of zeolite and press-mud as soil amendments. Applying zeolite (1.5 t/ha) and press-mud (15 t/ha) alongside 75% of the recommended dose of chemical fertilizers (RDF) enhances soil fertility, water retention, and nutrient availability. This approach results in improved plant growth, increased photosynthesis, and higher carbohydrate production, leading to a significant rise in the sugar content and Brix ratio of sweet sorghum. The method supports sustainable farming by reducing reliance on chemical fertilizers, promoting the use of organic by-products, and contributing to eco-friendly agricultural practices that improve crop yield and quality.
