Abstract: The present invention discloses a microbial consortium formulation comprising Bacillus subtilis DR-1, Pseudomonas fluorescens DR- 2, Azospirillum brasilense DR-3, Trichoderma harzianum TH-4, and Glomus intraradices GI-5, incorporated in sterilised carrier matrices such as talc, sodium alginate beads, wettable powder, or liquid suspension. The consortium acts through synergistic mechanisms including exopolysaccharide-mediated soil moisture retention, ACC deaminase-based ethylene suppression, biological nitrogen fixation, phytohormone production, and arbuscular mycorrhizal-facilitated water uptake to significantly enhance drought tolerance in millets. Application through seed coating or soil drench at recommended doses improves grain yield by over 95 percent under moderate drought stress relative to uninoculated controls. The formulation exhibits a shelf life of 12 to 24 months depending on the delivery format.
