MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621056356 A) filed by Metalex Cryogenics Ltd. on May 04, 2026, for A Modular Crankcase For A Piston Compressor And Method For Its Construction.

Inventor includes Samir Shah.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: The invention comprises a crankcase construction method that fabricates a crankcase from 24 individually cut components featuring four distinct material thicknesses selected based on stress and load requirements. These components are assembled using fixture-guided positioning and joined through a controlled manual arc welding process to form the crankcase structure. Unlike traditional single-sheet or cast methods, this multi-part construction approach enables structural optimization where different material thicknesses are applied specifically to high-stress zones, and modular architecture that supports fully removable cylinder heads and integrated high- capacity vane pumps. The modular crankcase provides improved structural strength, optimized stress distribution, enhanced vibration resistance, and improved serviceability. The resulting crankcase provides zone-specific structural optimization, modular repairability, and design flexibility that overcomes the limitations of cast, bent, uniform-thickness, and machined crankcase constructions.
