MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611069741 A) filed by Chitkara University on June 03, 2026, for A Modular Intelligent Refrigerator Tray System.

Inventors include Gunjan; Delci Garg; and Dr. Himanshi Babbar.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a modular intelligent refrigerator tray system(100) for real-time spoilage detection and shelf-life prediction. The present invention includes a storage tray(102), a sensor array(104), a protective barrier(112), a microcontroller(114), a LED array(116) and a battery module(118). The storage tray(102) having plurality of airflow ports configured to facilitate air circulation. The sensor array(104) is integrated within the storage tray(102) and includes a gas sensor(106), a humidity sensor(108), and a temperature sensor(110) for monitoring environmental conditions associated with produce spoilage. The sensor array(104) enclosed by the protective barrier(112) functions as molecular sieve, allowing gaseous substances to permeate while repelling liquid water and other contaminants. The microcontroller(114) locally processes sensor data to identify spoilage signatures and communicatively coupled to the LED array(116) which provides visual indication of spoilage conditions. The system(100) is a retrofit, self-contained spoilage monitoring solution which provides localized real-time spoilage detection without reliance on cloud-based processing.
