Abstract: The present invention provides a clinically validated multi-magnification malaria microscopy data-acquisition and annotation-transfer system (100), and a method of operating the same, for generating a labelled multi-scale dataset for training artificial intelligence based malaria diagnostic models. Blood samples are screened by a rapid diagnostic test module (120), prepared as thin smear (131), thick smear (132) and dried blood spot (133) samples, and validated through two independent microscopic examinations (141, 142) and polymerase chain reaction confirmation (150) on a defined proportion of positives. A multi-magnification image acquisition module (160) captures images at 1000x, 400x and 100x. Expert annotations generated at 1000x are propagated to lower-magnification images by an annotation-transfer module (180) combining SURF based sparse feature matching (181, 182) with learned correspondence modelling (183) and geometric transformation (184), yielding a traceable dataset for training field-deployable diagnostic models.
