MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411096123 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 05, 2024, for A Multi-Purpose Shield For Assembly In A Vehicle.

Inventors include Ratheesh Subramanya; Shrikant Kumar; and Aurabinda Mohanty.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: A shield 100 for an assembly, such as a rear camera assembly 150 mounted on a tailgate of a vehicle, can have a layered structure including an inner layer 102 made of a heat absorbing material and an outer layer 104 made of a sound absorbing material. The shield 100 defines an enclosed space for accommodating the assembly 150 there within. The inner layer 102 is of a sheet of aluminum having a plurality of funnel shaped structure 204 with perforations 202 to allow sound waves to pass and to die-off due to absorption by the outer layer 104.
