MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611116033 A) filed by Graphic Era Deemed To Be University on September 28, 2026, for A Multi-Spectral Vehicle Cover System And Method For Passive Threat Identification And Authorized Vehicle Recognition.
Inventors include Krishna Gupta; and Dr. Ashulekha Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to vehicle identification and protective cover technology, particularly a unified truck cover formed as a multilayered smart material structure for logistics and security vehicles. The truck cover includes an outer protective layer of Kevlar-reinforced polymer, aramid fiber, or ballistic nylon, a signal-responsive layer with infrared-reflective pigments, ultraviolet-responsive compounds, metamaterials, radar-reflective microstructures, or combinations thereof, and a pattern encoding layer that arranges the spectral response into coded geometric patterns defining a predefined spectral identity code. In some embodiments, an active enhancement layer with photoluminescent materials or micro-powered emitters reinforces the code under predefined conditions. The invention provides technical advancement by enabling passive or selectively enhanced multispectral signatures, including infrared, ultraviolet, radar, temporal, and directional variation, for reliable recognition of authorized vehicles and identification of unknown or potential threat vehicles during convoy, border, disaster-relief, and high-value cargo operations.
