Abstract: ABSTRACT “A MULTI-ZONE VARIABLE HEAT DISTRIBUTION DRYER” A multi-zone variable heat distribution dryer for a biomass grain drying plant operable in continuous-flow and batch-processing modes is disclosed. The dryer comprises a vertical multi-stage drying tower including a central air-distribution chamber (104) disposed within the tower and extending across its width, the chamber being connected to a hot-air inlet (101) and a micro air adjuster (103) for mixing hot air and ambient air. A plurality of independently controllable airflow distribution ports (105), one for each drying section (107), are arranged between the central air-distribution chamber and the respective drying sections and are adjustable by actuators (106) to regulate airflow supplied to each section. Sectional sensors (108, 109) and a grain condition scanner (121) provide signals to a centralized processing unit (118) having an adaptive control module (119) configured to adjust the airflow distribution ports in response to sensor signals and a plant load signal (120) so as to provide non-uniform heat distribution within the tower.
