The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to passive chipless radio frequency identification, and discloses a multiband system including a frequency-coded tag and a matching reader antenna for low-cost identification without integrated circuits. The tag employs seven nested resonant elements on a dielectric substrate, including U-shaped resonators and straight strips, with six data resonances at 0.865, 1.17, 1.37, 1.57, 1.8, and 2.49 GHz, and a separate calibration element, whereby code bits are represented by presence or absence of corresponding backscattered resonances and are alterable by selected shorting strips. The reader antenna includes a microstrip-fed rectangular dielectric resonator antenna, five split-ring resonators, and a defected ground structure with concentric annular slots and a central perturbation slot, providing interrogation bands aligned to the tag frequencies and improved multiband coupling and polarization performance. Principal use is item identification and tracking.
