The device integrates low-cost sensors including capacitive soil moisture, temperature-humidity and gas, an microcontroller, RGB LED, touch sensor, SD card storage and a voice playback system to deliver real-time, actionable agronomic insights without requiring internet, mobile networks or smartphones. Operationally, it employs a phenology-aware decision engine. By inputting the crop type and sowing date, the device dynamically adjusts sensor thresholds of soil moisture, temperature, humidity and fertilizer gas based on the crop’s specific growth stage. Th-iss enmsoulrti fusion approach minimizes false alarms wherein a disease- risk alert triggers only when high humidity, specific temperature bands and recent soil wetness occur simultaneously. For accessibility among low-literacy and disabled users, the device features an intuitive, non-textual interface. It communicates field status such as safe, caution, critical via a three-color RGB LED and delivers actionable, pre-recorded voice alerts in local rural dialects. A simple touch sensor allows farmers to request on-demand spoken status updates. Additionally, all sensor data and alerts are logged as plain-text files on a local SD card. This enables periodic offline data retrieval by agricultural technicians for expert analysis while preserving the farmer’s data ownership. An optimized d-eesleepp power strategy ensures 25–35 days of maintenance-free operation per charge.
