MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411091420 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on November 23, 2024, for A Parking Lock For A Vehicle.
Inventors include Ganesha Neelappa; and Ravi Dharwad.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: A parking lock (100) for a vehicle includes a first pawl (102) to engage with a first ratchet wheel (202) that is fixed to a differential carrier (200), and a second pawl (104) to engage with a second ratchet wheel (204) that is rotationally coupled to at least one planetary gear (106) of the differential assembly and mounted on the differential carrier (200) for free rotation. The first pawl (102) locks the rotation of the first ratchet wheel (202), thereby locking rotation of the differential carrier (200), thereby locking the rotation of the two drive shafts (208A, 208B) in same direction. Second pawl (104) locks rotation of the second ratchet wheel (204), thereby locking rotation of the two drive shafts (208A, 208B), and thereby the coupled wheels, from being rotated in opposite direction due to locking of planetary gear through the second ratchet wheel.
