Abstract: The present invention relates to a passive nano-engineered device for the localized removal of indoor smoke and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) generated from micro-combustion sources such as incense sticks, oil lamps, and similar indoor burning activities. The device is configured to intercept the smoke plume at the point of generation and operates without motorized airflow or continuous external power. It comprises a triboelectric nanofiber electrostatic layer for efficient capture of ultrafine particulate matter, a nano-photocatalytic layer for oxidative degradation of VOCs under low-intensity indoor or flame-derived illumination, and a nano- adsorptive layer for selective trapping of residual gaseous pollutants. Natural convection induced by combustion heat drives airflow through the device, enabling continuous passive operation. The synergistic integration of electrostatic capture, photocatalytic degradation, and nano-adsorptive purification within a compact housing provides high pollutant removal efficiency, reduced maintenance, and minimized secondary pollutant formation. The invention offers an energy-efficient, scalable, and application-specific solution for improving indoor air quality in enclosed micro-environments.
