Abstract: The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition of fast dissolving tablets of Tenoxicam and a method for preparation and in-vitro evaluation thereof. Tenoxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug widely used for the treatment of pain and inflammatory disorders. However, conventional dosage forms may exhibit slow disintegration and delayed onset of action. The present invention provides a fast dissolving tablet formulation designed to enhance the dissolution rate and improve oral bioavailability of Tenoxicam. The fast dissolving tablets are prepared using co-processed superdisintegrants comprising sodium croscarmellose (Vivasol) and crospovidone (Polyplasdone XL) along with pharmaceutically acceptable excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and talc. The tablets are manufactured by the direct compression method to obtain tablets capable of rapid disintegration in the oral cavity. The formulated tablets were evaluated for various pre-compression and post-compression parameters, including flow properties, hardness, friability, weight variation, thickness, disintegration time, drug content uniformity, and in-vitro dissolution studies. The results demonstrated that the prepared tablets showed rapid disintegration within a short time and improved drug release, with optimized formulations achieving nearly complete drug release within a few minutes. Thus, the invention provides an improved fast dissolving tablet formulation of Tenoxicam with enhanced dissolution characteristics, improved patient compliance, and faster therapeutic action, making it suitable for oral administration.
