MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621058736 A) filed by Ramdeobaba University, Nagpur; Shri Ramdeobaba College Of Engineering And; Bani, Supriya Gupta; Dharamsare, Pranay; and Kane, Deepankar on May 08, 2026, for A Photovoltaic Canopy For A Telecommunication Tower.

Inventors include Bani, Supriya Gupta; Dharamsare, Pranay; and Kane, Deepankar.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a photovoltaic canopy (100) for a telecommunication tower (200). The canopy (100) includes a central mounting hub (10), a plurality of support arms (20), sub-arms (30), a plurality of frame segments (40), a plurality of photovoltaic panels (50), a folding mechanism (60), one or more locking mechanisms (70), a control and deployment module, and a power generation and electrical module. The folding mechanism (60) includes hinge joints configured such that the sub-arms (30) extend outward first and the support arms (20) thereafter rotate outward to form a canopy structure for solar energy capture, and retract in reverse sequence into a compact folded configuration. The control and deployment module enables manual or remote actuation and semi-deployed operation during wind conditions exceeding a predetermined threshold. The power generation and electrical module conditions electrical power generated by the photovoltaic panels (50).
