MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611106495 A) filed by Gla University, Mathura on September 03, 2026, for A Plant Disease Detection System And Method Using Volatile Biomarker Sensors.

Inventor includes Dr. Shyam Kishor Patel.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a plant disease detection system and method using volatile biomarker sensors for non-destructive and early detection of plant diseases. The system comprises a volatile sampling unit (100), VOC sensor array (105), environmental sensors (117), signal-conditioning circuit (112), controller (121), disease- classification module and output/communication interface (127). Plant-emitted volatile organic compounds are collected through a sampling chamber (137) and detected using multiple sensing technologies. Environmental parameters are acquired for compensation of temperature, humidity and other environmental variations. The controller performs signal conditioning, digitization, baseline compensation, sensor-drift correction, environmental normalization and feature extraction to generate a multisensor VOC signature. The signature is compared with stored or trained reference signatures to determine plant-health status, disease risk or disease condition. Results are locally displayed and/or remotely communicated through wireless communication and cloud platforms.
