MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631082138 A) filed by Mr. Manjul, Ravi Ranjan; Dr. Ranjan, Sanjeev; Dr. Ahmad, Saif Nawaz; Dr. Mishra, Priya Ranjan; and Ms. Kumari, Nisha on July 03, 2026, for A Pneumatic Wave Energy Conversion Apparatus.

Inventors include Mr. Manjul, Ravi Ranjan; Dr. Ranjan, Sanjeev; Dr. Ahmad, Saif Nawaz; Dr. Mishra, Priya Ranjan; and Ms. Kumari, Nisha.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure refers to a pneumatic wave energy conversion apparatus (200) comprising a chamber (202) configured to receive incident waves and defining a water column region (210B) and an air column region (210A). The apparatus (200) includes at least one wave-entry opening (204), an air passage (206) configured to permit bidirectional airflow, and a hydrodynamic momentum-conversion surface (208) extending within a lower region of the chamber (202). The hydrodynamic momentum-conversion surface (208) comprises a continuously curved parabolic profile configured to redirect at least a portion of a horizontal component of incident wave momentum into a vertical oscillatory component acting on the water column. Oscillation of the water column generates pneumatic energy that is directed through the air passage (206) to drive bidirectional turbine assembly (212) for producing rotational mechanical energy. The disclosed arrangement facilitates utilization of wave- induced momentum, increased cycle-averaged pneumatic work, and enhanced pneumatic energy extraction.
