MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104976 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras on October 30, 2025, for A Polymer-Based Drug Delivery Vehicle And A Method Of Preparation Thereof.
Inventors include Pralay Maiti; and Subham Sekhar Mandal.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides a biocompatible and injectable polymer-based drug delivery vehicle as well as a facile and cost- effective method of preparation thereof. Moreover, the polymer-based drug delivery vehicle comprises a polysaccharide, a hydrophilic polymer, a catechol functional moiety and a biomolecule wherein the polysaccharide and the hydrophilic polymer form a graft copolymer through a two-step process, followed by the addition of the catechol functional moiety to form a hydrogel scaffold, which encapsulates the biomolecule. The polymer-based drug delivery vehicle facilitates the controlled and prolonged release of the biomolecule in response to diabetic microenvironment cues for long-term glucose regulation, thus offering a platform for improved insulin administration, and enhanced glycemic management.
