MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611095600 A) filed by Gurmit Singh Bagga on August 07, 2026, for A Pomegranate-Shaped Waste Bin With Self-Closing Flap Mechanism Operating By Gravitational Force.
Inventor includes Gurmit Singh.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tabletop waste disposal bin having an self-closing f1ap mechanism operating by gravitational force for hygienic disposal of bones and other small waste materials generated during dining. The invention comprises a pomegranate-shaped outer body manufactured from SS304 stainless steel (0.8 mm to 1.0 mm thickness) having an overall height of 180 mm and maximum diameter of 160 mm, an upper entry opening of 55 mm diameter, a circular flap door of65 mm diameter manufactured from SS304 steel mounted on a 4 mm diameter SS304 pivot rod supported by a welded internal bracket, a removable food-grade polypropylene inner bucket of 120 mm diameter and 110 mm depth, and a non-slip silicone rubber base of 140 mm diameter. Upon insertion of waste material through the entry opening, the flap door opens inwardly and automatically returns to the closed position under gravitational force after passage of the waste material. The flap door diameter being larger than the entry opening provides a complete seal, substantially minimising odour release and improving hygiene. The invention is particularly suitable for restaurants and dining environments. Total waste capacity is approximately 1.2 litres. Dimensional tolerance: ± 1 mm.
