MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541041047 A) filed by Pandurangan Harikrishnan; and Varadaraju Magesh on April 28, 2025, for A Portable Device For Controlled Removal Of Orthodontic Attachments And Various Methods Thereof.

Inventors include Pandurangan Harikrishnan; and Varadaraju Magesh.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT A PORTABLE DEVICE FOR CONTROLLED REMOVAL OF ORTHODONTIC ATTACHMENTS AND VARIOUS METHODS THEREOF The present disclosure envisages a portable device (100) for controlled removal of orthodontic attachments. The device (100) comprises an orthodontic plier (102) with a handle, configured to engage and remove orthodontic attachments from a tooth surface. A plurality of Force Sensitive Resistors (FSRs) (104) is positioned at finger and palm contact points of the handle (102) to detect and measure applied forces in real time. A Printed Circuit Board (PCB) (106) transmits the force data to a microcontroller (108), which processes and displays the data through an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) interface (110) and wirelessly transmits it via Bluetooth or Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity (112). An inertial measurement unit (IMU) (114) tracks hand motion parameters. A removable cleanable handle cover (116) ensures easy sterlization. A rechargeable power source (118) supports at least 8 hours of continuous use, powering all components for seamless operation.
