Abstract: The present invention is related to a portable water purification device is disclosed, designed for off-grid applications in rural, remote, and disaster-struck areas. The device utilises UV-C LEDs (107) operating in the 275–280 nm range for effective disinfection of water by targeting pathogens, and is powered by a solar panel (102) connected to lithium-ion batteries (101) for energy storage. The device incorporates a pre-filter (104) to remove large impurities, a DC motor pump (106) to drive water through the system, and a UV-C chamber (108) for disinfection. A water storage unit (109) holds the purified water, while an optional activated carbon filter enhances taste and odour. The modular design allows components such as the solar panel, batteries, pre-filter, pump, and UV-C chamber to be detachably replaceable, ensuring ease of maintenance and extended operational life. The device is compact, purifies 1– 2 litres of water per cycle, and provides a sustainable, non-chemical solution for potable water.
