MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521007840 A) filed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited on January 30, 2025, for A Process And A System For Dehydrogenation Of Alkanes.
Inventors include Doosa, Hima Bindu; Saidulu, Gadari; Manjunathan, Pandian; De, Bidyut; Prasad, Terapalli Hari Venkata Devi; and Manna, Reshmi.
The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved process and an efficient system for a catalytic dehydrogenation of light (C2-C5) alkanes to respective olefins. The improved process for the catalytic dehydrogenation of the alkanes enables an enhanced heat transfer in catalyst bed of the fluidized bed reactor, and reduces heat demand of the catalytic dehydrogenation of the alkane significantly, and provides a continuous and stable olefin production without employing a large size system, wherein the optimized process conditions provide 40-60 wt.% alkane conversion per pass, with an olefin selectivity of 80-95 wt.%. The efficient system of the present invention allows an energy efficient, a flexible and a safer operation by providing a proper separation of reducing and oxidizing environments for minimizing the hydrodynamic issues for providing a continue olefin production with a higher yield and higher selectivity for olefins.
