MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611102853 A) filed by Graphic Era Deemed To Be University on August 26, 2026, for A Process For Green Synthesis Of Multifunctional Silver Nanoparticles Using Tinospora Cordifolia Stem Extract.
Inventors include Dr. Vibha Joshi; Dr. Vishwajeet Bachhar; Dr. Sakthivel Kogularasu; and Guo-Ping Chang-Chien.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to green nanotechnology and discloses a phytochemical-capped silver nanoparticle and a process for preparing the same from an ethanolic stem extract of Tinospora cordifolia. In the process, Ag+ ions from a silver nitrate precursor are reduced to Ag0 by phytochemicals in the extract, which also adsorb on the metallic silver nanoparticle core to form a stabilizing surface-bound phytochemical capping layer containing carbon-containing and oxygen-containing functional groups. The nanoparticles are predominantly spherical, have diameters of about 20-30 nm with an average particle size of 25.39 ± 3.50 nm, exhibit a surface plasmon resonance band at 415 nm, and comprise crystalline metallic silver having a face-centered cubic structure. The invention provides an environmentally benign synthesis route and the resulting nanoparticles are useful in non-therapeutic in vitro enzyme inhibition, antioxidant assay systems, and antibacterial compositions for contact with Escherichia coli or Bacillus subtilis.
