Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing high-strength fiber-reinforced composite boards using lignocellulosic fibers derived from elephant dung. The process involves extracting fibers through repeated aqueous agitation, density-based settling, and multi-cycle washing to remove sand and contaminants. The washed fibers are chemically treated with a 6% sodium hydroxide solution for about 24 hours to disinfect bacterial content, partially remove hemicellulose, enhance cellulose concentration, and improve surface roughness for better fiber–matrix adhesion. The treated fibers are rinsed, dried, and cut to lengths not exceeding one inch. The fibers are then arranged in a crisscross layered orientation within a rigid mold. A thermosetting resin matrix, prepared by mixing epoxy resin and hardener in equal weight proportions, is uniformly impregnated into the fiber layers. The assembly is compression molded at approximately 100 bar for about 150 minutes at room temperature to obtain mechanically robust and environmentally sustainable composite boards.
