Abstract: The present invention discloses a process for the preparation of injectable immunoglobulin from bovine colostrum and its use for enhancing immunity in neonatal calves. The process comprises centrifugation of colostrum to remove fat and debris, adjustment of pH to an alkaline range, addition of antimicrobial agents, and precipitation of immunoglobulins using ammonium sulphate, followed by separation, washing, dialysis, and concentration of the precipitated proteins using polyethylene glycol. The resulting immunoglobulin is sterilized and filtered to obtain a clear, injectable composition containing a high concentration of immunoglobulin IgG. The injectable composition is administered subcutaneously to neonatal calves within a few hours after birth to provide immediate immunity. The invention provides a simple, economical, and effective approach for immunoprophylaxis in livestock and is applicable to cow and buffalo calves.
