Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing platform chemicals and a system for production thereof. Particularly, the present invention relates an easy, an economic and a continuous process for producing platform chemicals comprising levulinic acid and an efficient system for production thereof. More specifically, the present invention relates to an easy, an economic and a continuous process for producing platform chemicals comprising levulinic acid (LA), 5-Hydroxymethyl furfural (5-HMF), and formic acid (FA) from biomass derivatives/2G ethanol plant residues and an efficient system for production thereof, wherein the process provides a continuous production of the desirable products like levulinic acid (LA), 5-Hydroxymethyl furfural (5-HMF), and formic acid (FA) with an improved selectivity and an improved yield, by employing an in-situ regeneration set of the catalyst in the process.
