Inventors include Steve Okiri; Phia Muya; John Mwakuru; Sumant Bhalchandra Phadtare; and Richard Anthony Lobo.

The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.

Abstract: A process for recovering sodium carbonate from trona is disclosed. The process comprises preparing a trona solution from trona at a temperature in a range from 25 oC to 35 oC, crystallizing sesquicarbonate dihydrate sodium carbonate from the trona solution in a solar pond by maintaining the trona solution at a depth of at least 3 feet in the solar pond, for a period in range from 10 weeks to 16 weeks to obtain a crust crystal of sesquicarbonate dihydrate sodium carbonate with mother liquor in interstitial spaces, recovering the crystals of sesquicarbonate dihydrate sodium carbonate from solar pond, and converting the crystals of sesquicarbonate dihydrate sodium carbonate to sodium carbonate.
