Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for recovery of reusable anhydrous sodium sulphate from textile dyeing effluent. The process comprises subjecting a concentrated effluent stream containing sodium chloride and sodium sulphate to nanofiltration to obtain a sodium chloride-rich stream and a sodium sulphate-rich stream. The sodium chloride-rich stream is treated through reverse osmosis, evaporation and centrifugation to recover reusable water and sodium chloride. The sodium sulphate-rich stream is subjected to evaporation and chilling to recover sodium sulphate, thereby generating a mother liquor. The mother liquor is further treated through hardness reduction, carbon dioxide dosing, chlorination, acidification, aeration and evaporation to recover reusable anhydrous sodium sulphate. The process improves salt recovery efficiency, reduces waste salt generation and facilitates a near zero-salt-discharge textile effluent treatment system.
