Abstract: “SELECTIVE RECOVERY OF 1,3-PROPANEDIOL FROM AQUEOUS STREAM USING HYDROPHOBIC EUTECTIC SOLVENT” Disclosed herein is a method for selective recovery of 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PDO) from an aqueous stream using a hydrophobic eutectic solvent (HES) comprising DL-menthol and dodecanoic acid in a 3:1 molar ratio. The aqueous stream containing 1,3-PDO, glycerol, 2,3-butanediol, and organic acids is contacted with the HES to form a biphasic mixture, from which 1,3-PDO preferentially partitions into the extract phase. The extract phase is cooled to 3°C–5°C to selectively solidify the HES while retaining 1,3-PDO in liquid form, enabling simple product-solvent separation. The solidified HES is regenerated by mild heating and reused for at least three consecutive cycles, achieving recovery greater than 70% and purity above 95%. [Shall be published with FIG. 01]
