Abstract: ABSTRACT A PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF CHLORANIL FROM PHARMACEUTICAL WASTE The present disclosure relates to a process for the preparation of chloranil from pharmaceutical waste. The process of present disclosure employs use of expired or low-grade substandard paracetamol for the preparation of chloranil thereby making the process green, sustainable and minimizing the environmental impact of handling paracetamol waste. Further, the process of the present disclosure is simple, economical and industrially scalable. Furthermore, the process of the present disclosure provides chloranil with high purity and reduces formation of toxic byproducts such as dioxins.
