Abstract: ABSTRACT A REAL-TIME DIGITAL TWIN SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF PHOTOVOLTAIC INVERTERS The present invention relates to a real-time physics-guided digital twin system and method for performance evaluation and health monitoring of grid-connected three-phase four-leg photovoltaic inverters. The system includes a programmable photovoltaic source emulator 12 feeding a perturb-and-observe MPPT module for Udc,ref generation, a DC-link buffer capacitor, and a two-level voltage-source inverter bridge 16 with switches S1–S8 that produces phase voltages va–vc and neutral voltage vn. An LC filter network at the common coupling point comprises interfacing inductors and damping-filtered capacitors. A sensing network with voltage and current sensors provides signals to an FPGA-based control and digital twin platform executing in lockstep a cascaded harmonic-resilient orthogonal signal extractor, a constraint-aware stress-minimized predictive inverter control, a discrete-time digital twin model, a rank-adaptive electro-dynamic search optimization module, and a fidelity deviation index calculator. Microsecond-scale synchronization ensures real-time replication of switching-level inverter and filter dynamics for performance assessment and health monitoring.
