MUMBAI, India, July 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611053033 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi on April 25, 2026, for A Real-Time Livestock Identification And Verification System And Method.
Inventors include Sanjay Kumar Singh; Chiranjit Pal; Indra Deep Mastan; Prasenjit Chanak; and Arun Kumar Sangaiah.
The application for the patent was published on July 10, 2026, under issue no. 28/2026.
Abstract: The present invention provides a real-time livestock identification and verification system (100) comprising a mobile device (01) configured to capture facial image of a livestock animal and perform preprocessing on the facial image, a backend inference server comprising at least one processor and a deep learning based metric learning module (04) configured to receive the preprocessed facial image from the mobile device, extract a set of discriminative facial features, generate a normalized embedding vector representative of biometric identity, a storage unit stores reference facial images corresponding to enrolled livestock identities, a similarity computation module (05) configured to generate embeddings for the reference facial images, compute similarity scores between the embedding vector of the captured image and embeddings of the reference facial images, determine an identity of the livestock animal based on a predefined similarity threshold and a communication interface configured to transmit a verification result to the mobile device in real time.
