Abstract: Disclosed is a roll stand for a steel rolling mill. The roll stand includes a pair of rollers, each having a groove, disposed parallelly with respect to each other, where the groove of the pair of rollers faces each other to form a roll pass of a box shape therebetween. The groove includes a central surface having a first end and a second end. The groove includes a first side surface extending from the first end at a predetermined angle. The groove includes a second side surface extending from the second end at the predetermined angle. The groove includes an intersection between the first side surface and the central surface at the first end has a first radius of curvature. The groove includes another intersection between the second side surface and the central surface at the second end has the first radius of curvature.
