Abstract: Disclosed secure printer output release tray system (100) comprises a mounting frame (102) positioned adjacent to an output region of a printer, a page-receiving chamber (104) configured to receive and retain the printed sheets within a shielded region, a page-presence sensor (106) configured to detect presence of the printed sheets, a user-proximity authentication interface (108) configured to receive a local authorization input from a user, a mechanical page-retention gate (110) configured to restrict or permit removal of the printed sheets, a gate actuator (112) configured to move the mechanical page-retention gate (110), and a local release controller (114) configured to control movement of the mechanical page-retention gate (110). The system (100) further comprises an unauthorized removal sensor (116) configured to detect an unauthorized removal condition, an alert output interface (118) configured to generate an alert response, and a secondary holding compartment (120) configured to receive the uncollected printed sheets.
