The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a self-sterilizing dental mirror handle designed to reduce cross-contamination in clinical dental settings. The invention comprises a conventional dental mirror handle coated with a photocatalytic layer of titanium dioxide (TiCh). Upon exposure to routine dental clinic light sources, including visible and ultraviolet light, the TiOz coating generates reactive oxygen species capable of degrading microbial cell walls, thereby _____providing continuous surface disinfection. This innovation minimizes reliance on chemical sterilants, enhances chair-side infection control, and improves patient and clinician safety. The invention is cost-effective, reusable, environmentally friendly, and compatible with existing dental instruments.
