Abstract: A self-adjusting molten metal pouring control apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes a pouring vessel, an outlet nozzle, a flow regulating member, an actuator assembly, process sensors, a flow estimation module, and a controller. The controller receives data relating to mass change, molten metal level, temperature condition, and actuator position, and adjusts the outlet opening during discharge into a casting receiver. The apparatus compensates for changing process conditions, supports stored pouring profiles, and provides protective response during abnormal operation.
