Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for repairing damaged woven jute bags using a semi-solid polymer adhesive composition, a pneumatic adhesive application device, and a rotating drum-based repair apparatus. The invention provides an alternative to conventional stitching by enabling rapid and durable restoration of torn, punctured, or worn jute bags through adhesive bonding. [0002] The adhesive composition comprises polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), gelatinized corn starch, sodium benzoate, boric acid, and water, formulated to produce a semi-solid adhesive exhibiting suitable viscosity, fibre penetration, flexibility, and bonding strength for woven jute materials. The adhesive is applied using one or more pneumatic texture guns connected to a compressed-air source, allowing controlled and uniform application with reduced adhesive consumption. [0003] The repair system further comprises a work platform positioned between rotating drum assemblies mounted on a steel support frame. Each rotating drum includes a substantially cylindrical body with a tapered frustum end to facilitate mounting and removal of the jute bag during repair. After application of the adhesive and placement of a matching jute patch over the damaged region, the repaired bag is mounted on the rotating drum, where controlled rotation assists in maintaining uniform pressure, proper alignment, and intimate contact between the adhesive, repair patch, and woven jute fibres during bonding. [0004] The integrated system provides improved repair efficiency, consistent repair quality, reduced labour requirements, and lower adhesive consumption compared with conventional manual stitching methods. The invention is suitable for industrial refurbishment of jute bags used in agricultural, food processing, fertilizer, grain storage, warehousing, logistics, and packaging industries, thereby extending the service life of jute bags, reducing packaging waste, and promoting sustainable reuse of woven packaging materials. [0005] This invention combines a novel semi-solid adhesive composition, pneumatic adhesive application, and a rotating drum-assisted repair apparatus into an integrated industrial repair system capable of providing efficient, scalable, and cost-effective restoration of damaged woven jute bags.
