Abstract: The present invention relates to a smart device communication architecture using context-aware IoT protocols for enabling adaptive, secure, reliable, and energy-efficient communication among heterogeneous smart devices. In conventional Internet of Things systems, devices generally operate using fixed or preconfigured communication protocols, which may not perform efficiently under changing network conditions, device limitations, application requirements, and environmental situations. The proposed invention overcomes these limitations by providing an intelligent communication framework that dynamically selects and manages suitable IoT protocols based on real-time contextual information. The architecture includes a smart device layer, context sensing module, context analysis module, protocol decision module, adaptive communication manager, security management module, interoperability layer, and edge/cloud service layer. The system collects contextual parameters such as device type, battery level, bandwidth availability, signal strength, latency requirement, data size, data priority, communication range, environmental condition, user preference, and security level. Based on the analyzed context, the protocol decision module selects an appropriate communication protocol such as MQTT, CoAP, HTTP, HTTPS, Bluetooth Low Energy, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, or other compatible IoT protocol. The adaptive communication manager configures the selected protocol and enables data transmission between smart devices, gateways, edge servers, and cloud platforms. The security management module applies encryption, authentication, access control, or integrity verification according to data sensitivity. The interoperability layer supports protocol translation and data format conversion among heterogeneous devices. Thus, the invention reduces communication delay, minimizes packet loss, optimizes energy usage, improves security, enhances scalability, and supports efficient communication in next-generation smart device ecosystems.
