Abstract: The present invention provides a smart insulin carrier system (100) comprising a thermally insulated housing (102) defining an insulin storage chamber (104) and bounded by multi-layer insulation (106). A phase change material pack (108) provides passive cooling, while an actively coupled thermoelectric cooling module (110) cools the pack (108), and an external heat rejection assembly (112) rejects heat. A cooling drive circuit (114) energizes the module (110). Additionally, a smart cap assembly (116) carries a temperature sensor (118), a controller (120), a temperature display (122), and an audio alert unit (124). An independent monitoring circuit (126) supplies the smart cap assembly (116). A power supply (128) comprises a decoupled dual-source architecture wherein an internal rechargeable battery (128a) powers the monitoring circuit (126) and an external power port (128b) supplies the cooling drive circuit (114). The module (110) is selectively energized following an audible alert. (FIG. 1)
