Abstract: A SOLID-STATE LUMINESCENT COMPOUND, THIN FILM AND THE METHOD OF PREPARATION THEREOF [0080] The present invention discloses a solid-state luminescent compound having Formula I exhibiting mechanochromic and thermochromic responses. The compound is prepared by reacting 9-chloroacridine with benzimidazole under reflux conditions, followed by purification. Solid-state luminescent compound exhibits solid-state photoluminescence with an emission maximum of about 499 nm and undergoes changes in photoluminescence upon mechanical grinding and heating. The compound is further processed with polymethyl methacrylate to form a luminescent thin film and incorporated into a light-emitting device exhibiting emission in the blue-cyan region. The invention therefore provides a multifunctional acridine-based luminescent material suitable for solid-state optical and optoelectronic applications. Fig. 1
