MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641071238 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on June 08, 2026, for A Stability-Aware System And Method For Automated Wound Metrology And Wound-Status Monitoring.
Inventors include Anitha A; and Gowtham G.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a stability-aware system (100) and method for automated wound metrology and wound-status monitoring using computer vision–based morphological segmentation, calibration-assisted volumetric estimation, thermal-risk analysis, and longitudinal wound-progression analysis for assessment of wound progression using standard imaging devices and calibration-assisted sensing architectures. The stability-aware system (100) comprises a computing device (102) having at least one RGB sensor (104), a processor (106), a memory (108) storing instructions executable by the processor (106), and a display unit (132). The processor (106) is configured to perform image acquisition, calibration-aware wound metrology, morphological segmentation, volumetric estimation, thermal anomaly analysis, and wound-monitoring categorization operations for wound-status information presentation. The stability-aware system (100) integrates morphological analysis, volumetric estimation, thermal sensing, and predictive clinical logic into a unified multi-modal decision-support architecture configured for automated patient risk-tier classification and automated wound progression assessment.
