Abstract: A stress resistant pharmaceutical coating composition is disclosed for forming a durable coating on tablets, pellets, granules, capsules, beads, and multiparticulate substrates. The composition includes a primary film forming polymer, elastic toughening polymer, stress buffering particulate phase, adhesion promoter, controlled plasticizer system, anti-tacking barrier component, and pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle. The resulting coating layer maintains adhesion, flexibility, and film continuity under abrasion, compression, humidity variation, vibration, and transport stress while supporting conventional pan or fluid bed coating processes.
