Abstract: A structured gamification-based pedagogical framework (100) for enhancing technical English reading skill of undergraduate engineering learners is disclosed. The framework delivers reading tasks, graded across proficiency levels in a levelled technical reading repository (110), through a hybrid mode combining gamified classroom sessions (120) and a companion digital tool (130). A points-and-levels engine (140) awards points for task completion, accuracy, and classroom participation into a unified learner record. At periodic checkpoints an instructor evaluates the learner against a weighted multi-criteria rubric (150). A progression controller (160) fuses the normalised point score with the rubric score into a composite progression score and promotes the learner only when both a promotion threshold and an independent rubric gate threshold are satisfied, a remedial loop otherwise assigning scaffolded material. The rubric gate prevents level promotion by point accumulation alone, ensuring pedagogically verified progression.
