Abstract: A synergistic antimicrobial combination for Vibrio cholerae infections is disclosed. Said combination broadly comprises: a methacrylic acid and methyl methacrylate copolymer; doxycycline; and a pyrazine dicarboxylic acid derivative. Said synthetic copolymer and said doxycycline are in a weight ratio of about 5:1. Said synthetic copolymer and said pyrazine dicarboxylic acid derivative are in a weight ratio of about 5:1. The disclosed combination (and/or method) offers at least the following synergistic advantages and effects: is non-toxic; improved efficacy; is a bactericidal alternative for addressing antibacterial resistance; targeted biofilm eradication capabilities; does not disrupt commensal intestinal microbiota; and exhibits localised and sustained drug release in alkaline pH.
